Final teaser poster!

Final Film Poster

This is the final and complete film poster. My group and I have come to the final desicion of our thriller name which is 'Dark Minds'. We thought this name works best as our thriller is about someone's mind being corrupted by the way they view and see things, not like a 'normal' person would. Also how 'dark' connotes with the night time where stereotypically suggests caution and danger, like the colour black which is highlighted in this images background within the trees has been edited to make darker.

Filming Day 2

Costume ideas!

This costume idea is for the protagonist of our thriller. I thought quite plain, dark coloured clothing, along with white trainers would be best to use as the actor is going for a run in the thriller and runs into  what she thinks is a scary little girl, when in reality is not abnormal at all. We decided these colours would be suitable as we didn't want to use anything colourful to distract the audience and pull them away from the main focus, which is the plot of our thriller.

This second costume idea is for antagonist in our thriller. Along with the make up and hair used to make this character look abnormal and scary, A grey top would be worn underneath, with bare feet to heighten the abnormailty of this character as. When the caera is showing her as a 'normal' character, she will be wearing normal, everyday clothes.

SECOND CUT (DRAFT)

This is our second and final idea for our thriller, showing the first moments of our thriller in draft. We have missing footage as we have been facing technical difficulties, however the missing footage will be added as soon as possible including music. This footage shows the 'run' up to our main plot line.

FIRST CUT

First cut

This is our first cut of our thriller. We filmed it a few weeks ago and has just been edited, we have not incuded music or sound effects because in between we have been filming our second cut, which is a completely different idea. This is what we initially thought was going to be our idea, but has now changed.

Film poster draft 1

Film poster ideas

I have created the finaised film poster for our thriller film. The name we decided to go with is 'Dark Horizon'.

Along with the title of the film I have also inserted the age rating we gave our film, which we decided would be a 15.

As well as that I included poster credits at the bottom of the poster to give credit to those in the group.

I took a variety of photos for the film poster and here are the final four that I most prefered. I have edited them to gain more contrast on the image, and to give the HD low-key lighting effect I desired to confirm the steroetypes of a thriller.

Twitter account

Twitter account improvments

For our product to entice a widespread audience - specifically aged from 12-18 as our demographic target audience. We understand that the majority of youths today own a smart phone and therefore uses socail media platforms on a regular basis. With that in mind, we used it as an
advantage to create a socail networking account of Twitter to make updates on the process of research, planning, creating and evaluating our Thriller film. My peer Charlie set up the account and I have made it look more appealing and proffesional to an audience.

I set the profile picture up as the photo of our team, but will soon be changed when we have chosen our logo. The header has been replaced with the name of our company 'Element Productions' in black and white to give a sense of proffesionalism, although this could also change when we configure a colour scheme and logo for our project.

Prelim

PRELIM

This is our prelim, doing this helps us to navigate new angles and practice and prepare our camera skills before we go into our real thriller. In the prelim we have a match on action, a shot reverse shot and an over the shoulder shot. Being able to use a camera swiftly and using different angles it enables the piece to be more entertaining and natural and helps people see every angle of the performance.

WHAT WENT WELL:
  • We managed to film from a wide range of angles and this made our prelim look professional.
  • As well as filming from different angles, they transitioned smoothly and none of them stuck out.
  • There was nothing distracting our performance and the focus was purely on the actors in the prelim.
  • The editing in the prelim is sharp and nothing sticks out.
  • We managed to keep it simple, yet effective through the different cuts.
WHAT NEEDS IMPROVING:
  • Always remembering to make sure the actor is doing the exact same thing as he was in the previous clip, e.g the phone in the same hand.
  • Trying to film over the shoulder shots more precisely so they match when the shot reverses and they are at the same level.
  • Making our conversation longer so it gives us a chance to play around with more different angles.
  • Trying to remain focused throughout filming, because it was hard to cut out moments of laughter in between and making sure they still look accurate.

Mood Board

For further research into thriller films and to have a broader understanding of the codes and conventions within thriller films I created a mood board. By these pictures of film posters I noticed that the colour schemes used dark blue and grey with shadowy, low-key lighting to create suspense and tensionconfirming to the themes thrillers to aim for the audience to perceive. Knowing this, for our thriller will contain similar aspects from these film posters used as inspiration.

Prelim plan

For our prelim we had a discussion as a group where we should locate our prelim and what the dialogue will say. We decided for Pat to walk through two doors, the second portraying match-on-action, this gives us a feel for what it will be like for when we start filming for the real film. He will then have a conversation with Charlie sitting down at a table and here we are able to practice shot-reverse-shot. Doing this will help us have an understanding of how to edit and film properly using the correct angles etc.
